Ubisoft has confirmed that The Division is coming to PC as a response to fan request.
The announcement follows Ubisoft’s comment that it wouldn’t rule out other platforms, and is yet another sign of Ubisoft’s increasingly warm stance on PC gaming; the publisher was notoriously uncommitted to the platform a few years ago. Of course, fans certainly made their voices clear, which can’t have hurt.
The Division was announced at E3 2013 as a next-gen console release; it’s an always-online co-op shooter, which could probably be described as an MMO, although Ubisoft doesn’t seem to like the term, and is definitely an RPG. Set in a plague-ravaged world, it has players working to restore order, and is part of the Tom Clancy family of games.
At this stage, Ubisoft hasn’t dated the game beyond late 2014. It’s also coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
